Kenyan government minister George Saitoti was among six people killed when his helicopter went down near Nairobi on Sunday. The 66-year-old internal-security minister is a former vice president of the African nation and had been a prominent activist against the influence of Al-Shabab, a militant group that has clashed repeatedly with Kenyan forces over the past year. There was no news from authorities on what may have caused the helicopter to go down. The aircraft exploded into flames after hitting the ground with Saitoti and his bodyguards and other staff inside. Al-Shabab has mounted attacks in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi since fighting began with Kenyan forces in October.
