New CNN head Ken Jautz's plan to boost the ailing network's flagging ratings is to pack its primetime lineup with big personalities like Eliot Spitzer and Piers Morgan. The goal is to make the news channel more fun and lively, while still addressing serious issues. CNN is to focus on being more entertaining, by bringing in very passionate talking heads who can clearly articulate their point of view. Anderson Cooper remains “extremely” important to CNN, Jautz says, and he’s not pursuing Katie Couric. Jautz plans on keeping the brands of CNN and HLN—his former home—from bleeding together, as they have different demographics and advertisers.
