Kellyanne Conway: I Would Not Mock Trump Accusers’ Looks

Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway let in a rare bit of daylight between herself and her client on Monday when, in two separate cable news interviews, she was asked to respond to the mocking statements Trump has made about the looks of women accusing him on sexual assault. Speaking at a rally last week about a woman who says he groped her on an airplane, Trump said, “Believe me, she would not be my first choice.” About the People magazine reporter who claims he cornered her in a private room and kissed her against her will, Trump simply said, “Look at her.”

“It’s not how I would answer the question,” Conway told MSNBC’s Kristen Welker when she was asked to defend Trump’s comments. To Wolf Blitzer on CNN, she added, “I would not say those things.” In both cases, Conway went on to defend Trump, who she described as “very frustrated, because he’s denied these allegations.” After a supporter of Trump’s shouted “Stay on the issues!” during a recent rally as the candidate continued to discuss the allegations against him, Conway jokingly tweeted, “That was me! I was there...”
