Kelly Defends Planned Russia Back Channel as a ‘Good Thing’

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly on Sunday called a reported plan by senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, to create a system of back-channel communications between the Trump administration and Russia, a “good thing.” Kelly said the proposed method is “both normal, in my opinion, and acceptable.” He added, “Any way that you can communicate with people, particularly organizations that are maybe not particularly friendly to us, is a good thing.” Kushner's alleged plan was first reported by the Washington Post. Trump, on the other hand, called the reports “fabricated lies.”
