Female college students can avoid sexual assault and harassment by avoiding alcohol at parties, Republican presdential candidate John Kasich said on Friday. During a town hall at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, a female student asked Kasich what he would do to prevent sexual violence on campus. Kasich first suggested a confidential reporting system that would allow assault victims to register their complaints with school administrators. Then he advised the young woman to stay away from parties. “I’d also give you one bit of advice. Don’t go to parties where there’s a lot of alcohol. OK? Don’t do that,” Kasich said.
