Justices May Stiff-Arm NFL Suit

The Supreme Court appears prepared to rebuke the National Football League in its quest to secure broad protection from antitrust suits. At issue in a case involving the league and a clothing manufacturer is how greatly the NFL can restrict trade and commerce. With a win, the NFL teams might be able to group together to negotiate player contracts. Justice Sonia Sotomayor asked if the league was "seeking through this ruling what you haven't gotten from Congress: an absolute bar to an antitrust claim." With their questions Wednesday, few of the justices seemed to favor that idea.
