Bad Sign

Journalist Killed at Peace March

Pakistan's recently announced peace deal with Islamic extremists in the Swat Valley is already a subject of great debate both in Pakistan and abroad, but early signs are not encouraging. Take, for example, the tragic death of TV reporter Musa Khan Khel, whose body was found in a Taliban-controlled area after he covered a rally celebrating the peace agreement. “It’s pretty chilling,” Imran Aslam, the president of the network that employed Khel, told the New York Times. “The militants have sent a signal that the fight is not over. When you do something to appease and there is a gun over your head, this is what you can expect.”
