John McCain in ‘Stable’ Condition After Surgery

    Aaron P. Bernstein/Reuters

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is in “stable” condition after undergoing surgery on Sunday to treat an intestinal infection, his office said. McCain, who was diagnosed with brain cancer last summer, has not returned to Capitol Hill since December. He has remained at home in Arizona while undergoing cancer treatment. “He has remained engaged on his work as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and has enjoyed frequent visits from his family, friends, staff and Senate colleagues,” his office said in a statement. McCain was diagnosed last year with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor that was discovered while doctors were performing surgery to remove a blood clot.
