Japanese Earthquake Ravages Homes

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked southern Japan on Thursday, collapsing 19 houses and injuring at least a dozen people, trapping many others. Gen Aoki, director of the Japan Meteorological Agency’s earthquake division, has cautioned that officials expect aftershocks to occur over the next week. The agency reported that the quake struck at 9:26 p.m. local time, just east of Kumamoto city on the island of Kyushu.
