Japan Survivor Found After 8 Days

It’s almost too good to be true: Japan’s military says an earthquake and tsunami survivor has been pulled from the rubble after an astonishing eight days. The survivor, a young man, was found in Kesennuma city, in the northeast of Japan where the tsunami’s devastation was most pronounced. It’s a small bright spot for a nation still crippled: A crisis at nuclear-power plants is still stoking radiation fears, and the nation’s export-led economy could be seriously hobbled by fears that its products are tainted—several importing countries have begun testing Japan’s food exports for radiation.
