An Israeli court rejected an appeal on Sunday for a soldier convicted and sentenced to 18 months for fatally shooting a wounded Palestinian attacker. The Palestinian man had stabbed a different Israeli soldier before he himself was hurt and laying on the ground. Sgt. Elor Azaria then shot the Palestinian man, Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, in the head, killing him. Azaria’s mother said after the ruling that “all the terrorists are laughing at us.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would recommend that Azaria be pardoned.
