Israel, Palestine to Resume Peace Talks

Without much hope of accomplishing much more of his domestic agenda this year, has President Obama turned his ambitions to foreign policy? Obama administration officials tell the Associated Press that Israel and Palestine have agreed to hold direct peace negotiations. While Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will make the announcement later Friday, a European diplomat tells the AP that the two sides will meet in Washington D.C. on September 2. President Obama has also invited the leaders of Jordan and Egypt as well as Tony Blair. The last direct talks between Israel and Palestine broke down in mid-2008.
