Islamists Secure U.S. Embassy in Libya

Islamist-allied militia group Dawn of Libya has claimed to have “secured” the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli. The U.S. compound was evacuated more than a month ago when Libya's capital becmae a battleground for pro- and anti-Islamist groups. Dawn of Libya has cited control of the Embassy as a sign of victory and has invited visitors to tour it. A commander of Dawn of libya claimed his troops took control of the U.S. Embassy last week. While the windows of the compound are broken, most of the equipment appears untouched according to a journalist on the scene. A video posted online showed men playing in the pool at the U.S. Embassy, which U.S. Ambassador to Libya Safira Deborah said appeared to be filmed in the residential annex.
