Power suits like the one featured in the superhero movie Iron Man will hit war zones within the next five years, according to defense contractor Raytheon. The XOS2 lets the wearer carry 150 lbs with almost no effort and punch through four stacked wood planks. The suit has two variations for different tasks; the first, worn waist-down, helps users carry heavy backpacks, and the second, covering the whole body, helps users carry battle supplies. Raytheon is working to improve the fuel efficiency of the suit and will soon release a version that is permanently attached to a power source. A fully independent suit will debut later, and hit battlefields in about 10 years.
