Iran to Join U.S.-Russian Talks on Syria

Iran has reportedly accepted an invitation to join the United States and Russia in a formal conversation on resolving the Syrian civil war. Russian officials extended the invite Tuesday, as all parties have acknowledged the Islamic Republic’s importance in the discussion, seeing as has actively supported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime against rebel forces. The talks next week will mark Secretary of State John Kerry’s first negotiations with Iran since nuclear-deal discussions in July.
