Iran intelligence authorities say they have foiled a bombing plot by Sunni militants that would have targeted Tehran and other cities. According to state-run media, members of the “anti-Islamic terrorist takfiri group” were arrested and had their weapons seized. (Takfiri is a term Iran’s Shia officials use for Sunnis, who they regard as apostates.) Iran is working with the Syrian and Iraqi governments to fight the ISIS terror group. Militants have carried out attacks against Iran in recent years after claiming to defend the Sunni minority community in the Islamic Republic.
