Intel on Afghan War Doubts U.S. Success

The upcoming assessments of the Afghan war are to say there’s a limited chance of success without more Pakistani cooperation in hunting down militants. The National Intelligence Estimates on Afghanistan and Pakistan present the consensus view of America’s 16 intelligence agencies. The reports seem to have struck a nerve in the military, which is saying the estimates do not account for significant progress made since October. Among the other findings is the conclusion that controversial drone strikes in Pakistan are having an impact in limiting terrorist activity. The full report will be released Thursday.
