India Mudslide Death Toll Hits 51

The deal toll from a devastating mudslide in India which engulfed an entire village has now reached 51, as heavy rains continue to hamper rescue workers’ efforts to find about 100 missing people. “We have reached the main inhabited area and are continuing efforts,” a district official said on Friday. The chances of survival are slim for anyone still trapped after the initial mudslide on Wednesday. The bodies of 22 women, 23 men, and six children have been recovered so far.
