Illinois AG Asks DOJ to Investigate Chicago PD

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has asked the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division to investigate the Chicago Police Department. The request comes after outcry over the department’s coverup of the shooting of 16-year-old Laquan McDonald last fall, and other violent incidents that resulted in the death of teenagers. Earlier Tuesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel fired Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
