Hurricane Leslie Heads for Bermuda

As storm-ravaged regions continue to clean up the mess Isaac left, Hurricane Leslie is gaining strength off the coast of Bermuda and forecasters are predicting it could be a “historic storm” for the region. The latest storm is set to bring powerful winds and rain to the British territory as early as Friday, and could pummel the area for up to two days, Bermuda’s Emergency Measures Organization said. Its effects have already reached the U.S. East Coast, where warnings are being issued about life-threatening rip currents as a result of the storm. Beachgoers are being encouraged to stay out of the surf.
