Hundreds Protest Muslim-Extremism Hearings

Hundreds of protesters rallied in New York’s Times Square Sunday, raging against a planned congressional hearing on home-grown Muslim extremism. Speaking from the crowd, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf—who gained notoriety as the co-founder of the “ground zero mosque”—urged Congress to instead hold hearings “into radicalism and not into Muslims.” Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who will lead the investigation, insisted Sunday that there’s been “self-radicalization going on within the Muslim community, within a very small minority.”
