House Passes Funding Bill, Now on its Way to Trump

    Jim Bourg/Reuters

The House passed a bill to fund the government to avert a government shutdown Thursday evening in a 300-128 vote, Bloomberg reports. The funding bill will now be sent to President Trump, who is expected to sign it while also declaring a national emergency to obtain his $5.7 billion in funds for a border wall along the Mexican border. If the bill had not passed both the House and the Senate—or if Trump decides not to sign the bill—by 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, the government could enter another shutdown weeks after the longest government shutdown ended in late January.
