    House Democrats Delay Tax Vote

Despite speedy action by the Senate, the tax-cut compromise hammered out by President Obama will not be taken up for a vote by the House as soon as expected. House Democrat leaders, sensing they may not have enough votes to pass the measure, have pulled a vote from the schedule after liberals staged an uprising, demanding changes to a provision in the deal that would set an estate tax at a rate they view as too low. The delay isn’t the end of the bill, but it’s an unwelcome delay, especially for Obama, who has urged the House to act quickly on the measure.
