When pesky insects turn deadly. Since July, 41 Chinese have been killed and 1,600 injured by hornet attacks in the northern part of the country, according to China News Agency. Two hundred and six people are reportedly still being treated in hospitals, with 37 in critical condition. The perpetrator is thought to be the Asian giant hornet, which is around five centimeters long. Its prevalence has been blamed on drier, warmer weather and urbanization, as development disturbs the areas where hornets hunt and nest.
