Honda Recalling 1.5M Vehicles

Honda is recalling 1.5 million vehicles in the U.S. to update the software that controls the automatic transmission, the company said Friday. Honda's 4-cylinder Accords from 2005-2010 and 2007-2010 CR-Vs and the 2005-2008 Element vehicles will all be affected. According to Honda, the transmission on these vehicles needs to be updated because its secondary shaft bearing can be damaged when the car is shifted too quickly—especially when the vehicle is dislodged in mud or snow. The recall notices will be sent on August 31. Honda said no injuries or deaths have been reported because of the problem.
