French President Francois Hollande said Thursday’s attack in Nice that left at least 80 people dead was a terrorist assault that has caused the nation’s state of emergency to be prolonged. “There’s no denying the terrorist nature of this attack of yet again the most extreme form of violence,” Hollande said after the tragedy. The attack took place at a fireworks show to mark Bastille Day. The attacker drove a large truck into dense crowds at high speeds, injuring at least 150 more. President Barack Obama has spoken out and condemned the attack, echoing Hollande’s statement and describing it as a “horrific terrorist attack.” The U.S. Embassy in France has issued a warning to all visiting U.S. tourists.
