High Turnout Seen in U.K. Election

As Britons finally vote in a much-publicized and hotly contested election, polling stations are already reporting high rates of turnout with one poll worker saying, “Voters have been streaming in from the moment the polling station opened.” After a campaign season that has seen citizen demonstrations, embarrassing gaffes by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and a surge for Liberal Democrat Nick Clegg, final polls indicated an eight-point lead for Conservatives, possibly enough to put the party back into political power. "I am feeling good, I will leave it at that," said Tory leader David Cameron.
