Guns Now Allowed at Texas Psych Hospitals

Thanks to Texas’s new open-carry law, which went into effect Jan. 1, Guns are now allowed on the grounds of the 10 state-run psychiatric hospitals. Firearms were previously banned at those hospitals, but now licensed gun owners can be armed when visiting patients. “It’s the responsibility of the operators of the facilities to ensure that the patients are not around dangerous weapons,” state Representative Matt Rinaldi told The Austin-American Statesman.
