Greece Suspends Some Mail Services

After several suspicious packages were sent to foreign embassies and international organizations throughout Greece and Europe, including one that reached German Prime Minster Angela Merkel, Greek officials have placed a 48-hour suspension of all ingoing and outgoing foreign mail in order to investigate. On Tuesday, a parcel was found on a private plane on Tuesday night and two were found and destroyed in the Athens International Airport cargo area. Then parcels were found at the Swiss, Russian, Bulgarian, and Chilean embassies. The left-wing group Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, is reported to be behind the attacks. Greek officials stressed that the packages were not believed to be connected with al Qaeda. No one has been seriously injured from these boxes but one ignited in the Bologna airport and the packages at the Swiss and Russian embassies detonated.
