GOP Senators Refuse to Work after 2 P.M.

Who said being a senator is hard work? Angry over their health-care defeat, Senate Republicans are refusing to work after 2 p.m., says The Huffington Post. They’re doing this by invoking a little-used rule “that states committees can only meet when the chamber is in session with the unanimous consent of all members.” Without unanimous consent, committees can only meet for two hours. Among the hearings that had to be canceled was one on police-training contracts in Afghanistan; Republicans also blocked testimony by an admiral and two generals.
