GOP Sen. Susan Collins: ‘Difficult to Say’ If Trump Will Be 2020 Nominee

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Monday that “it’s difficult to say” whether President Trump will be the Republican party’s presidential nominee in 2020. “There is a long ways between now and that point,” Collins said during an appearance on MSNBC. Trump, who has already declared his re-election bid and still enjoys high approval ratings among Republican voters nationwide, has angered GOP lawmakers lately with his response to the Charlottesville violence in which he blamed “both sides” for the white supremacist-fueled deadly violence. Collins has been a consistent anti-Trump voice on Capitol Hill, and helped sink the GOP’s Obamacare repeal-and-replace measures by voting against each one.
