Google Fires Author of Anti-Woman Memo

Google’s parent company has fired an employee who wrote a widely circulated memo that argued women are “biologically” less likely to succeed in tech, and that woman-focused hiring and mentoring programs are harmful. The memo’s author, James Damore, was dismissed Monday, after Google’s CEO sent a company-wide email addressing portions of the memo that “violate our Code of Conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace.” Damore confirmed to Bloomberg News in an email that he had been fired for “perpetuating gender stereotypes.”
