Global Markets Falter Further

Stocks around the world continue to plummet, as the MSI World Index—a gauge of 23 developed countries—slid another 1.3 percent, marking a nine-day decline of 11 percent, Bloomberg reports. Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index hit a five-year low, while futures on the S&P 500 shed 1.4 percent, echoing the Dow's continued skid. "This could be a rather damaging end to the week," wrote one London trader. "Investors are quite simply running out of short-term confidence with equities."
