Germany: We’ll Take Millions of Refugees

A top German official said that while the country is expected to take in as many as 800,000 migrants by the end of 2015, the number isn’t much greater than what it is prepared to absorb in coming years. “I believe we could certainly deal with something in the order of a half-million for a few years,” Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said Monday night in a television interview. “I have no doubt about it— maybe even more.” The statement comes as Latin American nations pledge to accept migrants with “open arms,” according to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
