Geneva Syria Talks Fall Apart

U.N. mediator Lakhdar Brahimi apologized to the Syrian people yesterday after peace talks in Geneva melted down without any progress toward an agreement. Talks between the Syrian government and the opposition, locked for months into a bloody civil war, lasted just 27 minutes on Saturday morning before Brahimi emerged and spoked to the press. He said the point of contention was the Assad regime's refusal to discuss a transitional government.
