Gaza Truce Extended Another 24 Hours

Israelis and Palestinians have agreed to extend their temporary truce in Gaza another 24 hours, but few long-term issues have been resolved during the past two weeks of talks in Cairo. Israel has not received assurances that rocket attacks will not resume. Palestinians have insisted on an end to an Israeli coastal blockade, which Israel says is a result of security concerns. Palestinian ambassador Jamal Shobaki said on the Voice of Palestine radio: “The gap is big, and the negotiations are difficult and complicated…. The Egyptians may present another proposal today.”
