At least two people were injured Thursday, after an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza hit an Israeli school bus. One teenager aboard the bus was seriously wounded. Israel’s response—including, tank, warplane, and helicopter fire—injured at least eight people in Gaza, and additional shelling by Israeli forces has killed at least one person. An Israeli helicopter fired on a target in Gaza for the first time since the war in January 2009. The Israeli military said that 45 rockets and mortars had been fired into Israeli territory in three hours, which is the heaviest fire in two weeks. Before this incident, there had been something of a lull in cross-border attacks since a rise in violence last month that killed 16 Palestinians.
