Ft. Hood Victim's Fiance Speaks

The fiance of one of the soldiers killed in the shooting at Fort Hood this week shared her first hand account of the harrowing experience with a local Tampa Bay news station Thursday. Kristen Haley, who is also a soldier and was in the area when the shooting started, described how her fiance Sgt. First Class Danny Ferguson—who’d just returned from Afghanistan—died trying to keep the gunman out of a room filled with military personnel. “He held that door shut because it would not lock. It seems the doors would be bulletproof, but apparently they’re not,” she said. “If he wasn’t the one standing there holding those doors closed, that shooter would have been able to get through and shoot everyone else.”
