The soldier accused of plotting an attack on Fort Hood managed to pack a lot of defiance into a five-minute court hearing. Pfc. Nasser Abdo shouted the name of the 2009 Fort Hood shooter, as well as the name of an Iraqi girl who was raped and killed by U.S. soldiers five years ago. When the judge called “All rise,” Abdo sat, and four U.S. marshals took him by the arms and pulled him up. Asked whether he understood his right to remain silent, Abdo replied, “I sure do.” He has admitted he planned to bomb a restaurant frequented by Ft. Hood soldiers.
