Fox, Sony, Lionsgate Join Georgia Protest

Time Warner, 21st Century Fox, and Lionsgate are among the major film production companies who joined Disney and Viacom on Thursday in protest of Georgia's recently passed anti-LGBT legislation. The state's so-called "religious liberty" law has been called discriminatory and anti-gay, and the studios have banded together to send a message to Gov. Nathan Deal that they will withhold doing business in his state—which houses a burgeoning film industry—unless he vetoes the legislation. One of the more explicit boycott threats came from The Weinstein Company, which said it will move the production of an upcoming big-budget Richard Pryor biopic out of Georgia if the bill is signed into law.
