Fox News: We Support CNN’s Lawsuit Against Trump

Fox News on Wednesday announced that it will back rival network CNN’s lawsuit against the Trump administration over the White House’s revoking of CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s press credentials. “FOX News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential. We intend to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court,” the right-wing cable channel’s president Jay Wallace said in a statement.

“Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized,” the network added. “While we don’t condone the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and the press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.”

Support from Fox News comes as something of a surprise considering several of the network’s most prominent hosts have routinely bashed Acosta and supported the White House in revoking his access after he clashed with Trump during a heated press conference last week.

NBC News also announced their support for the lawsuit, writing in a statement that they will join the amicus brief. Other outlets joining the brief include the Associated Press, Bloomberg, First Look Media, Gannett, The New York Times, Politico, USA Today, and The Washington Post.
