Mystery Solved

Found: San Francisco Sea Lions

The hundreds of sea lions that, much to the disappointment of tourists, disappeared from San Francisco’s Pier 39 around Thanksgiving have been found 500 miles north at another tourist attraction in Oregon. The animals started showing up at the Sea Lion Caves in Grants Pass, presumably due to the abundance of anchovies. It’s unclear how many of the Oregon sea lions came from San Francisco. At Pier 39, the population dropped from over 1,000 sea lions at the end of October to just 20 by the end of the November.
