Former Miss New Jersey Dies After Car Crash

Former Miss New Jersey and TV anchor for SNJ Today died early Monday after she was critically injured in a car crash. Cara McCollum was declared dead after brain surgery, her friends and family announced on a Facebook tribute page. The 24-year-old Princeton University graduate’s family members wrote: “Thank you all for this tremendous outpouring of love and support for our Cara. We can’t begin to tell you how much your prayers have meant to us in this incredibly difficult time.” McCollum sustained serious head injuries when she lost control of her car, left the road, and hit three trees on Feb. 15. She was Miss New Jersey in 2013, and she competed in the Miss America 2014 competition.
