Florida Senate Gets Another Challenger

How's this for a résumé to match the times: Jeff Greene, a Florida billionaire considering a Senate run, made his fortune on real estate and credit-default swaps—the shadowy financial product that helped spark the financial meltdown—and is known for his friendship with Mike Tyson and Heidi Fleiss. According to Politico, Greene is planning to enter the Senate race on the Democratic side, throwing a potentially expensive obstacle in front of current frontrunner Representative Kendrick Meek. "Between Mike Tyson, Heidi Fleiss and making his billions off the backs of those who have lost their homes, this guy is going to be wild to watch," one Democratic source snarked to Politico. On Thursday, Governor Charlie Crist gave the Senate race a major jolt by announcing he would leave the Republican primary against Marco Rubio to run as an independent.
