Florida Republican Rep. Dennis Ross Is Retiring

U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (R-Fla.) is the latest in a string of GOP departures, reports The Tampa Bay Times. Ross, the Republican senior deputy majority whip, announced the move to his staff on Wednesday morning after House Speaker Paul Ryan also said he would not run for re-election. Ross has served in the House of Representatives since 2011. “After thoughtful prayer and consideration, my wife Cindy and I decided that I will not seek re-election for a fifth-term in office,” Ross said in a statement, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I am grateful for this incredible opportunity to serve and I look forward to the next chapter of my life which will include, in some way, continued public service.”
