Five Dead After Mississippi Hostage Standoff

A Mississippi man who killed four people Saturday in a 12-hour hostage standoff died Sunday night of injuries sustained during the confrontation, authorities said. CBS News reports that the tragedy began at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, when authorities responded to a domestic dispute call in the town of Clinton. A man shot at the officers who attempted to enter the residence before he retreated back inside, sparking a standoff that one witness described as a war zone. During the 12-hour dispute, the suspect was reportedly shot. By the time a SWAT team was able to enter the residence, four hostages had been killed. The names of the suspect and the victims have not yet been released.
