First U.S.-Cuba Cruise to Sail in May

Carnival Cruise Lines will embark on the first U.S. cruise to Cuba in more than 50 years next May, after it got permission from the U.S. government for “purposeful” cruises. If approved by Cuba, the cruise line will travel from Miami to several Cuban ports through a subdivision that focuses on volunteer work and cultural immersion. The intended vessel, the 710-passenger MV Adonia, features Spanish classes and lectures on culture in lieu of shows and casinos.
