Fireball in CA Was Russian Rocket Debris

A streak of light blazing across the sky in California, Arizona, and Nevada was likely a Russian rocket booster re-entering the atmosphere, the U.S. Strategic Command said late Tuesday. Officials said the fireball was caused by a Russian SL-4 rocket that re-entered the atmosphere above Arizona and was reportedly spotted south of Las Vegas, in the eastern sky from Southern California and as far north as Sacramento. The rocket was launched Monday and it was unknown where it ended up, according to Strategic Command.
