The suspected mastermind of the Strasbourg Christmas market shooting has been killed by police, according to reports. Cherif Chekatt, 29, was reportedly found in a warehouse in the “Neudorf area” of Strasbourg. The warehouse was reportedly located near his residence. In a statement, the Islamic State has reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting. Five people were also arrested in relation to the mass shooting that left three people dead, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office. A male member of Chekatt’s “entourage” was detained Thursday, along with four of his relatives, the prosecutor announced. Authorities had been searching for Chekatt, whom police believe orchestrated the attack, in France and Germany.
