    FBI: Mob Maybe Rigged Ali-Liston

One the greatest upsets in sports history may have actually been staged by the mob. According to new FBI documents released under the Freedom of Information Act to The Washington Times, Muhammad Ali's (then known as Cassius Clay) 1964 triumph over Sonny Liston may have been organized by the mafia. Some of the documents claim people “in the know” said Liston and another gambler made more than $1 million betting against Liston. No documents indicate that Ali had any knowledge of the schemes.
